Betsey Johnson feted by The National Arts Club

On Tuesday evening The National Arts Club Fashion Committee, chaired by Chrishaunda Lee, awarded Betsey Johnson a Lifetime Achievement Medal of Honor. There was a cocktail reception and dinner as part of the celebration and attracted fashion insiders and devotees of all ages. Betsey inspires the instigator inside everyone with her clothing that successfully juxtaposes delicate ballerina tutus with a boldness in color and design that rebels against stereotypical femininity. The result is a girlie-girl that plays in the dirt and wears her fairy-princess dress for everyday wear. As one might expect, the event was utterly delightful and filled with characters that understand wit and humor in fashion and everything else. Fashion writer and icon Lynn Yaeger, DJs Andrew + Andrew, and fashion front row queen Rosemary Ponzo were some of the eclectic New Yorkers who attended.
