Saturday night there was on opening reception at the Ward-Nasse Gallery in Soho (one of the few remaining in a neighborhood that is otherwise a suburban mall). It was to promote Olan Montgomery's new book POP: Art inspired from New York's own subcultures from celebrity to subway. It showed his paintings along with-the best part-art by his mom, Eslye, who is also an artist. And as one would expect there were legends from the fashion and nightlife underground in attendance. My personal favorite to meet was Kevin Aviance. I love his total commitment to a look and think he's beautiful.
The paintings are fun and colorful and the show runs through August so check it out - or better yet buy the book!
